It’s a Family Affair
We all have good times during this time of year. AND then the reality that we have to go back to our routine sinks in.
Back to packing lunches and washing clothes, setting up activities AND doing homework – all require structure. Coming back from vacation to this world is just simply not fun.
Over the years I have found that my organization system helps, however it is not sustainable. Recently I have realized it’s a family affair. Remember the Barney song?
“Clean up, clean up everybody everywhere clean up, clean up everybody does their share.“
Typically with families like ours one person does the heavy loading. We have to change this dynamic because everyone has to be a part of positive behavior support, (“PBS”), which in my opinion is just another way for politely asking everyone to contribute in a meaningful way.
Our daughter’s caregiver came across this article and shared it with me and I thought it had small nuggets of wisdom for those who have loved ones on the spectrum AND quite frankly for everyone who has a child.

The village is necessary to make the family unit work. The more we all chip in the better off we all are. It is a family affair!
