As we approach the mid-point of the summer, I want to take time to discuss gratitude. I have had time to think lately, despite a full load at home and work, and I have decided that the most important way to combat the blues or challenges is to recognize what we are grateful for. I do not mind saying I am a believer. My minister delivered a sermon this past year on the topic of “why not you?”. When you look around at the many problems of the world and at issues others have, you often forget to see the beauty around you. In this most trying time, I have decided to focus on what I do have: support and love. Each day, I am going to make an effort to hold myself accountable for my feelings and allow them to flow. This is a firm challenge for me, as I consider myself a true gladiator for those who are disadvantaged. It is ok to be disappointed, but it is important to recognize grace.
