My Advocacy

Stronger families create sustainable communities.  I am a long-time believer in the “village” concept.  When we help each other out and look after one another, we create generational change.  As a proud mother of a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder, I advocate for equitable balance in education and health for those with disabilities

My Journey

I am not native to St. Petersburg, but I certainly call it home after living here for nearly 30 years.  I began my career in communications and education, and after practicing law, circled back to education and public policy. My family has two former leaders in education who were school superintendents of districts in major cities. While law is still my passion, education is our family motto.

EDUCATION

The purpose of education…is to create in a person the ability to look at the world for himself, to make his own decisions.

James Baldwin

CARE

If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded.

FREE SPEECH

To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker.
