Is it Spring Break Yet?

Today is the last day of school for a week. Even though I am not in school I was completely over the moon. What is the “old school” saying?  No more Teacher’s, No More Books, No more…well you know the rest. 

 

In all seriousness we should applaud ever teacher, student, administrator-and yes parent – that managed to navigate the minefield of obligations of a non-traditional environment.  

 

The overwhelming fatigue, executive functional skills, individualized education and the support it takes to manage it has taken its toll on many. But- the good news is that is has shown our resilience. 

 

I have seen my daughter grow in ways that I could not have imagined. As an Autistic person- she managed zoom nation, google classroom and a numerous you tube videos many times on our home. She accepted frustrated parents attempting to relearn challenging subjects to tutor her and weekends of catch up. For any child this is not manageable – for my daughter it was analogous to climbing Mt. Everest. 

 

So for at least this week – We rest – Yeah- Spring Break!!!
