Being her Mom is a Joy
I am always cognizant of my daughters journey during autism awareness month. In part because so many people ask me what does it feel like to be her mom. Being her mom is a joy.
The question I really would like people to ask is what could they do to support families like mine. This week was one of those weeks where my heart was filled with joy because of the city of angels in our community who stepped in to raise awareness for autism. The Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions, where I serve as the Executive Director had a golf fundraiser to help increase and enhance awareness on issues the autistic population experiences. I was overjoyed with the amount of people who participated at the tournament and their willingness to care about this most important issue. I am known for saying it takes a village. Today I want to say thank you to the village for supporting me.
