Summer is sadly coming to an end!
After a year + of virtual school, summer was a welcomed distraction. While it was quite a challenge to dust off clothes and get back to a new routine our family was grateful for any meaningful connection. I am so proud of my child on the spectrum who navigated this new terrain like a champ. Even though she says daily -sometimes hourly-when is COVID going to end- she embraced change and all the comes with it.
Her last summer endeavor was super creative and vocational – Sewing! My daughter is in to cosplay or costume design. She favors the Victorian Era and today she made her very first dress. AMAZING!. Selecting this summer activity was extremely brave. It required my daughter to enter a space she has never been in daily and required keen focus with unfamiliar sounds. Her father and I are proud parents. Every step even a small one feels like a huge victory. I am sad to see summer end but grateful for the growth she experienced -which we hope catapults her further this fall when she finds herself in a new world – HIGH SCHOOL
