Reflection and Reinvention
Every year we have an opportunity to reflect and reinvent ourselves. It is so easy to look back when we should always look ahead. Fighting these human urges challenges our spirit. BUT as my older daughter says appropriately, “Don’t let your FEAR of missing, stop you from taking the shot.”
Here’s the hard core truth. As mother of a teenager with ASD I admittedly sometimes fail to smell the beautiful roses around me. My husband and I try to take every opportunity as a family to share the world with our daughter -sometimes without caring for ourselves. It takes real effort to acknowledge that we must prioritize our mental health to keep our family whole.
Ironically, our older daughter called as I was writing this blog to check on what I was doing and to give this advice as she often does-“Ma, don’t waste your time!”
