And – We’re OFF
So this is scared. Nearly 14 years ago-I sat in a room with my family where I was told my daughter was broken and could or likely would never do “X”. Just replace anything with X!
X= not speak (Boy! Does she have A LOT to say)
X= not work at grade level (she begins college in the Fall)
X = not communicate in any meaningful way (You should read our text thread)
X= not withstand any noise (She is in fact a thespian)
X= not engage in Neuro-typical behavior (whatever that is!)
X= not thrive
You get the point. For all of the NOs- I am grateful. Our daughter pierced the ceiling EVERY time and is still putting many cracks in it! For parents and loved ones supporting someone on the Autism Spectrum- NEVER GIVE UP!
We are done with the NOs of the brief moment of developmental milestones and WE are OFF to the adult world of creativity, curiosity and community. Still more cracks to put in that ceiling!
