Fiercely Independent

Fiercely Independent

This was quite a week. Our daughter finished 10th grade successfully, passed entrance exams to attend college, participated in a fashion show and decided she would be ok with me leaving for three weeks. I was speechless this week. After years of advocating we see the changing of guards. Our daughter is navigating just fine and is fiercely independent.

In past blogs I explored how it felt to hear questions or comments about our daughter’s trajectory.

  • Do you think she will make it?
  • How will she work?
  • What will life look like for her socially?
  • AND the biggest annoyance- Will she have any level of a normal life?
  • The question becomes do any of us have any level of normalcy? I suppose it depends on your perspective. Here is what I know. Every time the world said no to our daughter – she found a way to pívot and say yes. We believe in our daughter’s journey- whatever it looks like- our daughter Thais the skills to succeed.
