In GOOD time
I remember asking my grandmother a ton of questions and no matter what I asked, ultimately her response was the same.
- Good things come to those who wait
- Kimberly you must be patient
- Anything worth having is worth waiting for
- A hot pot will not boil simply because you are staring at it
- In GOOD time
Well I cannot say I was always patient. Although it is a strong characteristic of mine- does anyone really like waiting?
Well this week I must say waiting has tremendous worth.
I am grateful beyond measure for the impact the woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. have made on my daughter. I am a PROUD member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and remember when my dear friends of this sister Greek organization offered to step in and provide respite. Little did I know how much their support would mean to me.
Over the years our daughter participated in pageants, panels, fashion shows, chats, mentoring sessions and events.
It is difficult to emphasize how much that means to a family who supports someone on the spectrum. The many years of trying to find a “safe space” for children like ours to develop and grow compounded with stress can feel overwhelming. This year after 10 years of mentoring, we see the fruits of community labor. Our daughter is a debutante. My grandmother’s words still ring in my ear.
In GOOD time!
