Thinking a lot about time these days. I always think about how fast the year went by when it is my husband’s birthday. Strange I know-but when his number increases I think about mine following his rapidly. I have also been thinking about wisdom and the grace of perspective.
My husband’s great aunt is 103 years old. She is spectacular. Her joy is contagious, she is genuinely loving and she has a keen sense of humor. When I am with her or when I have the rare opportunity to speak to her all I can think about is how much LIFE she has experienced. From 1920 to the present – LIFE happened!
- Women receive the right to vote
- The Great Depression occurs
- Civil Rights Movement brings icons Martin Luther King, Jr, John F. Kennedy, and so many others who came and went too soon
- Cars, planes, rockets
- First man to land on the moon
- Women’s movement
- Rise of several presidents
- Technology
- Global engagement
- War and Peace
It is just astonishing how much she has witnessed. The fact that she is intact and has a beautiful heart and brain is a blessing. Oh To Be 103! My daughter said she is grateful we have a centarian in our life, I could not agree more.
Perspective!
