Our family have been patrons of American Stage for two decades! That is not an exaggeration! Our older daughter fell in love with the theatre early on because she always felt as if she was home. American Stage is a vibrant space where ALL are welcome. I am grateful to the many artists who transformed my children and brought out the best in both of them.
Who knew our family would sit in the audience for performance after performance after performance. we have seen several directors come and go and watched camp counselors grown up. Last week our younger daughter finally ages out of the camp. It was bitter sweet. I do not know if I processed it at the time but reflecting now I understand it is a WRAP! What was transformational about this safe space for our daughter on the spectrum is that she was allowed to THRIVE! We are truly indebted to American Stage for allowing our entire family to understand the power of performance.
