Sometimes you need a good attorney

Know your rights. Sometimes we think of the legal profession and those who make up of the profession as part of the system.  Yes, lawyers make up the system and mostly in a good way.   As an attorney and advocate I value my peers.  We help educate the community and help them navigate the law and more importantly fight for their rights.  I was reminded of the importance of our flock at a recent gathering in St. Petersburg.  We gathered to support our profession and the purpose of upholding the law and our moral obligation as attorneys.  As I looked around the park, I was grateful to be among peers who I personally know help others.  As a parent of an child of ASD it is important to me to share knowledge.  Read, read, read and ask, ask, ask!  Lawyers and advocates share knowledge.  The IDEA and 504 plans help but as a parent or advocate, you have to understand how law intersects with policy and human nature.  Dig deep.  You will find a friend to help or maybe even a lawyer.
