She looks like me!

She looks like me!

My daughter eagerly awaited Kamala Harris’ rise. She watched her weekly and said each day, “She looks like me, she looks like you, she looks like my grandmama, she looks like my nana!” My daughter instinctively understands the importance of inclusivity and the comfort it brings to know you are accepted. You belong~

Today, regardless of how you feel we made history as women. We told millions of young girls of color they matter. We gave hope to a new generation of women of all hues. We told those who are disenfranchised, those we do not see that they have an umbrella of protection called America. 100 years after the passing of the 19th Amendment, which allowed women the right to vote, we told women they count. Listening to my daughter, who battles inclusion daily, say We all Matter- left me speechless.
