The more we know

Last month our daughter with autism spectrum disorder celebrated her 20th birthday. I cannot believe it and am beyond grateful. I am most appreciative of the many professionals, therapists, physicians, and community members who helped us with our journey. One professional community, ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapists, is now significantly impacted by recent changes in Florida. These therapists help students with Autism in immeasurable ways. Many of them are losing their provider licenses and/or are having challenges with managing extensive paperwork. ABA therapists teach persons living with Autism how to LIVE in ways that are challenging to them. These valuable skillsets are necessary in the classroom, at the park, in a grocery store, family gatherings and so much more. Our daughter is who she is because of the collective village. The more we know the more we are able to help our loved ones with disabilities live more meaningful inclusive lives.
