Governmental Affairs Consultant
I craft customized strategies to help clients achieve meaningful outcomes by leveraging established relationships with state and local government entities. This approach not only increases the likelihood of success but also secures critical support and buy-in for clients' initiatives and causes.
Who This Is For
You're doing important work. I help you do it better.
I consult with organizations, school districts, government agencies, and nonprofits on policy, accessibility, and inclusion. This work isn't limited to any single issue area. I bring the same analytical rigor to any question where law, equity, and community intersect.
Whether you need a policy reviewed, a program redesigned, or someone to tell you honestly what's not working, I offer the perspective of a practicing attorney who's also been on the receiving end of the systems you're building.
What I Do
Service Offerings
Policy Analysis
I review and analyze local and state policy through the lens of equity, access, and legal compliance. This includes education policy, disability policy, housing policy, and more. You get a clear-eyed assessment of what's working, what's not, and what's legally required.
Organizational Consulting
I work with organizations to build cultures and systems that are genuinely inclusive, not just compliant. This goes beyond checking boxes. I look at your hiring practices, your service delivery, your communications, and your leadership pipeline.
Advocacy Strategy
When you're trying to change policy, secure funding, or shift public perception, I help you build a strategy grounded in legal knowledge and community trust. I've done this work from every angle: as a parent, an advocate, an attorney, and a consultant.
Program Development
Starting a new initiative or retooling an existing one? I help organizations design programs that serve people well from day one, with realistic goals, measurable outcomes, and structures that don't fall apart when the grant cycle ends.
Training & Workshops
I lead workshops and training sessions for staff, leadership, and boards on topics including disability awareness, inclusive practices, policy literacy, and family engagement. Every session is tailored. I don't do off-the-shelf.
The Process
How It Works
-
Discovery
We start with a conversation about what you're trying to accomplish and what's getting in the way. I ask a lot of questions. I want to understand your organization, your stakeholders, and your constraints before I offer a single recommendation.
-
Assessment & Proposal
I put together a detailed scope of work: what I'll evaluate, what I'll deliver, and what it will cost. No ambiguity. If the project isn't a good fit for my expertise, I'll tell you that too.
-
Engagement
We work together. Depending on the project, that might mean embedded consulting over several months, a focused policy review, a series of training sessions, or a one-time strategic planning engagement. I stay until the work is done.
Experience & Credentials
A career across the courtroom, the classroom, and government.
Before founding my consulting practice, I served as Executive Director of the Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions at St. Petersburg College, leading policy research and strategic initiatives at the intersection of civic life and institutional change. As Assistant City Attorney for the City of St. Petersburg, I worked inside the legal and regulatory frameworks that shape municipal governance. I've also taught political science and served as a board leader for civic and community organizations across the Tampa Bay region.
That combination is what I bring to every engagement. My legal background grounds the work in precision; my public-service record grounds it in practical accountability, and in established relationships with state and local government that help clients achieve real policy outcomes.
