My daughter wants to work and, more importantly, would like to have a career. She cares deeply about the "next steps" of life and does not want to let anyone down, particularly her older sister. Over the past two years, and thanks to many people who invested in our daughter, we have seen progress. Our daughter worked for Miss Hardy at Coastal Boutique in retail, she had an independent contractual agreement for voice-over acting with children's book read-alouds for Rhyming with Ms. Ida, and now she has a seasonal job with the YMCA. Community is key to successful living, and I am grateful that our daughter found employment that was meaningful to her. We did not receive this support from vocational rehabilitation; however, it is my belief that government resources should work for our families. Seek them out if you need them.
