Can’t Believe the Progress

Can’t Believe the Progress

Sooo 10 years ago we could never sit through fireworks. It was simply impossible. Our daughter could not stand the noise or crowd or stimulation. We hid in closets with noise cancellation earphones, we ran away from all forms of normal firework noise, in sum we were recluses.

Over the years we tried everything. Driving in cars, (to chase the fireworks and that was a mess!). Going to parks where we could see the fireworks but not hear them up close. Watching through the window as neighbors set off fireworks. Staying at hotels with good views and some years ignoring the holiday all together.

This year we saw PROGRESS! Our daughter was all in. She dressed the part, did not fussed and worked on her sensory challenges in real time. I had not actually spent time enjoying the BEAUTY of fireworks in some time. It was lovely to have a moment we all waited for.
