Check in

Check in

Over the last few weeks, I have been thinking it is time for us to check in and re-focus our priorities to address our mind, body, and spirit. We must minimize the impact of stress and isolation and take notice of our emotional compass. Simply stated, our soul matters! As parents of those with ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder we must be mindful of the privilege and the pressures for caring for our loved ones. We must have the presence of mind to be more patient, be present and strive for balance. How do we achieve this? I would be quite a hypocrite if I sadi I am there yet. However, some of the components include the following:

Forgive yourself! Give yourself grace daily and know that under the best of circumstances parenting is difficult. Allow yourselves to emphasize for others who may not know your journey and do not understand the challenges associate with it. Love yourself unconditionally by taking time to care for yourself. Commit to help others along in the journey. I recently shared the importance of ABA therapy with a parent at the initial phase of this journey. It felt good to share wisdom and honesty. One of the joys I have is sharing my successes and struggles with others. It allows me to payback the love and advice I was given. Nurture your relationships and make a purposeful effort to pursue your passions.

Each day is a gift and know YOU MATTER!
