So I truly had a lovely Mother’s Day. Graduation season is here and I had plans to head to Miami to celebrate a family friend’s son who graduated from law school. However, motherhood always comes with surprises. My daughter on the spectrum decided it was time to come home from college for a weekend visit. Although this seems like such a small task for some for our family it was HUGE!
Thankfully we have a lot of love and support because it took the entire village to bring her home. Her godmother picked her up from class and kept her overnight. THEN took her to the airport and walked her through the gate. THEN our daughter successfully navigated the remainder of the journey. It was much more complex on the way back and I will not bore you with the details but navigating THE Atlanta Airport is quite an experience! Needless to say she did it!
I did make it to Miami to celebrate my nephew. During the entire time I kept thinking how grateful I am and how blessed we are. Our daughter that so many counted out-made it home like any other college kid, slept for 12 hours and handled her business.
Happy Mother’s Day!
