After a six week break from routine it is hard to get back in the swing of things. That is generally true for all people but especially for persons on the Autism Spectrum. Routine MATTERS! We did not know how quickly our daughter would acclimate to a new schedule, new people or new professors- but our daughter quickly acclimated. Persons with Autism Spectrum have a great capacity to SEE what the world looks like. When you provide routine and structure they are more apt to thrive. Watching our daughter get back on the bus, navigate the campus, get to class timely all on her own – is evidence that providing roadmaps works.
