I am NOT ready!

I am NOT ready!

So my daughter does not look like a little girl anymore-she is firmly in TEEN category!  During COVID we did not worry about what she wore.  Let’s face it, most of us wore nice tops and pajama bottoms and my daughter was no different.  What happened after a year- well a tremendous growth spurt and a closet full of clothes she can no longer fit at all!  For weeks I have been prepping her to go shopping.  I asked her to start thinking about her style and what she envisions wearing to school and encouraging her to establish her look.  Her answer was as usual- a typical No- I am NOT ready.

I could not tell if she wasn’t ready because she doesn’t know what to wear or simply doesn’t care or because shopping- at least for her is exhausting.  Well- I finally wore her down and she agreed to TRY.  I created a semi-monster!  We went to one of my favorite boutique shops in town and she had her princess moment.  By the end, there wasn’t an outfit she did not like.   In all seriousness I could not help but smile.  Although this seems like a normal, typical event it was not for us.  Because of our daughter’s sensory issues, we rarely go to malls, stores or places that we cannot quickly go in and out of.  Also- in light of COVID her anxiety escalated and we have a more difficult time convincing her to go out.  This was a win and it happened to be a satisfying one at that.  I will take that!
