I Met a Friend!

A couple of weeks ago I travelled to DC for a family friend’s funeral. It was a rough 24 hours-coming after a whirlwind of a couple of hectic weeks.  I met a FRIEND while we were working on the programs.  The young man was with his grandmother, and she was clearly in this weird space of anxiety and support. I know that space well because I live it daily. The grandmother informed me that her grandson was autistic-but she did not have to- of course I already knew.

We quickly communicated because I have learned over the years how to truly listen to someone who has challenges communicating thoughts. This young man was brilliant. He shared his story as I shared mine- through pictures NOT words. I will not share our secret, but his picture says it all.

I MET a friend.
