Movin on up!

Movin on up!

It’s happening! We are on our way back to school and back to normalcy. Last week we had the opportunity to tour our daughter’s new school. The joy on her face was absolutely contagious. She was so excited to experience the small things of life.

  • Looking at where she would eat~
  • Wondering what it would be like to start a club~
  • Meeting her teachers for the first time and sharing a little about herself~

This is quite a scary new world for her-But she is absolutely ready. We are moving on up! The highlight of the tour was unexpected. Our daughter loves books and sees them as a window to understand our world. We went to the library and she was fascinated. The idea that she could be in a space at this age -at this juncture where everything is coming together-
well I was simply in awe.

Before we left she wanted to take ownership and responsibility and asked for a library card. Our daughter has had a card in the past but of course I applied for it. She looked at the application like she was applying for college. The seriousness of it was not lost on me. For the first time she knew that she will truly have independence. She actually spelled her name differently, which I thought was interesting.

Like any year I know this year will bring challenges. However I am excited about our ASD child re-entering the world.
