New Horizon
I have to talk to my daughter daily about beginning again. In fact I say to her every day today is a “present” that’s why it’s called THE present.
This week we had a new beginning. Regardless of what you think about the outgoing president, the inauguration, the new administration, the first black and female vice president or the plethora of diversity at the inauguration -what you saw was a new beginning.
For some people who are more vulnerable- like my autistic daughter-new beginnings are important. Think about it. It means you can have a new beginning every day!
This week was one of those weeks for me. I thought I had a new beginning but it went Awry. Without going into details I had a
Wonderful week followed by tremendous stress followed by the joy of blessings when you know that there are people around you who care.
The new administration’s Education Secretary, Miguel Cardona has a big task ahead.
He will have to heal old wounds from parents who are fatigued from having their children at home from teachers who are frustrated from being overburdened and will have to make difficult decisions regarding a strong population of those with disabilities who need extra care as they continue to navigate Covid.
I am hopeful that with this “new horizon” we can tackle Covid and start seeing hope for more unified space or we can all breathe. I am reminded that my aunt, Dr. Patricia Ann Harvey would have been an incredible fit for this position-Because she truly believed that everyone had a center of excellence and she live by that motto. I hope that in this new space everyone is given the chance of inclusion and receives the gift of the present. Here’s to a new horizon!
