No Such thing as a painless life.
I had a rough week this week. It was just challenging. One thing after another. On top of personal challenges my daughter had a setback. I was discussing this with my pastor who I often consult and he wisely said there’s no such thing as a painless life. He further explained that everyone needs support in time to grow up. When you’re raising someone on the spectrum you’re keenly aware that you have to teach them how to thrive in a world that is not designed for them. It brings you endless stress and you hope that you have always done enough.
My daughter’s caregiver sent me an article which discusses how to prepare your child for life. Since our family is in the midst of transition from having a child with ASD to an adult I take all advice seriously.
Everyone has different Strengths that is no different for someone with ASD. It is important to know that as we prepare them for life we must remember it is their life and out of failure comes success.
