The Joys of Spring Break

The Joys of Spring Break

I worked yesterday – even though I told myself to take a break. I worked today – after I repeatedly told myself to take a break and then something stopped me. It was the beautiful sound of my daughter’s voice. I was reminded of how rarely I am able to interact with her without speech or occupational therapy and without a strict routine that leaves little time to breath.

Because we are ALWAYS on schedule and because my daughter has a healthy fear of COVID I had to craft a day that she would buy into. First stop – the spa, second stop – the book store, last stop – the infamous Chic-fila

It seems like a simple plan but nothing is simple when you have to constantly evaluate the environment you are entering. The bigger challenge is wondering if the people you interact with will show compassion or complicate issues further.
Today was a great day! The nail technician quietly accepted my daughter’s critique of her work and her comments.
Check one – success

My daughter was reluctant to try any book store with the exception of Barnes and Nobles but she tried Book + Bottle and ended up purchasing more age appropriate books- winner!!
Check two – success.

Giving more time and money to Chic-fila is not necessary a win, but going daily brings her unattainable joy. What do they put in that chicken??
Check three – happiness.

My daughter lives for Spring Break and she is finally at a space in time where she is ready to really live it up on her week off.

Cheers to progress.
