So – I try to blog weekly but I am not always successful. Sometimes life is “LIFING” and it is best to listen to my body. When you are caring for someone with Autism Spectrum Disorder it is important to pour into your own spirit. Simply being a caregiver requires you to “CARE” for yourself. Often parents feel guilty for giving themselves a respite. But ultimately caregivers’ energy fades if they do not refuel.
Today my husband took me away. As we were sitting at a restaurant, I did not want to pass on taking a picture of my joy. Sometimes a smile says it all. So glad I recognized it was time for a break! Being present makes all the difference.
