Full Circle
I am sitting in the beautiful HBCU- Historic Black College and University, Xavier University. It is a beautiful day to witness growth and reflect on what a true village means.
My husband and I come from a small village so we truly BELIEVE in an expanded village. This young lady, Hydeia Thomas is a huge part of our EXPANDED village.
When we met this young woman she was in 7th or 8th grade- memory fails- BUT she immediately fit into our space. She loved our daughters, she cared about giving back and she wanted to make the world a better place. In sum she shared our family values. We felt her “black girl magic” immediately and wanted to ensure she knew we the “Jackson 4” would ALWAYS be there.
Well- Three graduations later here we are! Hydeia is an amazing reflection of LOVE! She embodies what it means to persevere.
We are so proud to witness her journey. Despite challenges, she saw it through!! Full Circle!
