Uninterrupted Joy is a Choice
I have a confession. Most people who know me know that it’s not really a confession.
In fact it’s pretty self-evident. I am an eternal perfectionist. I am sure I am not alone, however when you are the parent of someone on the spectrum it can be problematic at times. Although I have always struggled with balance recently it has been much more challenging.
I attribute my struggles in part to the post Covid world where some people prefer in person contact, others prefer virtual contact and many want it both ways.
Amid our many obligations we must manage expectations for ourselves. What can we really do well when we are pulled in so many directions. It is often painful because PERFECTION is not realistic.
The image selected for this blog reminded of an old sermon on uninterrupted joy. You see, uninterrupted joy is a choice. It is often difficult to change your circumstances or your circle and as a result deal with your perfection.
BUT- we can accept that perfection is not realistic.
We can be confident even when the road ahead is rocky AND we can love our ASD kiddos exactly as they are.
Uninterrupted Joy is a choice.
