Who Are You?

Who Are You?

A friend sent me an article on Brad Pitt. It was on his inability to remember faces. She recalled me sharing our daughter’s challenges with facial recognition for many years. Brad Pitt says he has never been diagnosed and our daughter has not either.

Brad Pitt opens up about suffering from undiagnosed prosopagnosia, or ‘face blindness’

It is admittedly strange! Our daughter will see someone in one context and not recognize the same person AT ALL in another context. Our family struggles with how to support this part of her disability. We recognize her struggles and do our best to share with family, friends and our extended village that our daughter’s inability to not SEE them is certainly not personal. SO- when our daughter asks, “Who Are You” -Please just answer. She will SEE you eventually.

Prosopagnosia (pro-so-pag-no-zee-ah) is a condition where your brain can’t recognize faces or facial expressions
