As our daughter gets closer and closer to finalizing her journey in the K-12 environment it is not lost on me all the lessons she learned, we learned individually and how much we have grown as a family. I simple cannot believe we are here.
One issue we always struggled with was explaining what having meaningful friend meant. It is a harsh reality when you discover people you love want to support you but do not necessarily want a first hand relationship in your journey. Our family has had to deal with a lot of acceptance on this issue. What we generally say to our daughter when she is disappointed in someone who she thinks is a friend but is not -is You ONLY need 1!
Our daughter had a beautiful outing and enjoyed classical music with young ladies who all have something in common. But on this day- I realized she had her “1” and even if it is temporary it is certainly nice to see.
