Young and 17

Young and 17

A year goes by quickly. When you’re amid the daily grind you do not think about it and then – you look up and time has moved on.

  • This year our daughter successfully completed 11th grade and her first full year of college.
  • This year our daughter took both the SAT and the ACT.
  • This year our daughter obtained her driver’s license.
  • This year our daughter acted in her first professional play.
  • This year our daughter was presented to the community in traditional African American cotillion.
  • This year our daughter completed her 10th year as a mentee in the Gems program and rocked the end of the year showcase fashion show.
  • This year our daughter spent a week at a pre-college camp on her OWN!
  • This year WE witnessed tremendous growth!

We are MOST proud that this year our daughter navigated a difficult NEW terrain balancing a freer schedule.

So our sweet 16-year-old is moving closer to young adulting! We now have a young and sweet, only “17”

Dancing Queen
“You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet
Only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl
Watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen”
